Add or change hdd:
1. backup the server
2. at workstation run trustnds /r /a (this will create
trustees.bat at vol SYS)
3. edit autoexec.ncf and comment out all non essancial
software (arc serv,inoculan,pserv)
4. power off the server
5. from dos xcopy /s nwserver from existing hdd to new hdd
6. load the server
7. use monitor to remove any licence connection including
printers
8. load install, disk option, modify disk partition and
hot fix, create nw partition on unalocated partition
9. select volume option, press insert and select vol called
NEWSYS and another 1 called NEWVOL1
10. command : add name space long to volume
11. from the workstation use nwcopy to copy all directories
except deleted.sav and cdrom$$.rom from SYS to NEWSYS
and from VOL1 to NEWVOL1.
12. at console load dsmaint --> prepare nds for hardware upgrade
13. copy backup.ds from SYS:SYSTEM to NEWSYS:SYSTEM
14. load install at volume option dismount all volumes
15. rename SYS to OLDSYS,NEWSYS to SYS,VOL1 to OLDVOL1,
NEWVOL1 to VOL1.
16. mount SYS and VOL1
17. load dsmaint (restore nds following hardware upgrade)
18. at install use licence option to install licence menu
19. edit autoexec.ncf like before
20. down server, remove all hdd.
21. login to nwadmin remove NEWSYS and NEWVOL1 from nds.
22. delete backup from SYS:SYSTEM.
(setup From set of 10 diskets: the diskets must be with name
like system_1 and
contain the info at a new computer from disk boot 3.1
use ghost for dos 6.22
make a partition of 20 mega.
clean config.sys and autoexec.bat from all what connected
to memory (cdrom also)
create a directory like c:\312
copy the system_1,system_2 and system_3 diskets to that
directory.from that directory type server, give it a name
and a random ipx number.)
autoexec.bat --> mscdex /d:mscd001 /L:Z (do not call him cdrom)
autoexec.ncf --> cdmount vol_name
