at 7.3 and above install ncurses,cfdisk rpms.                             
cfdisk -l --> add here a partition u want and 
reboot after finished
at prompt:   mkfs -b 4096 -i 20000 -L /stuff /dev/hda10

fdisk -l /dev/hdc --> partition table cfdisk /dev/hdc -z
p (primary) ,Enter, +15M, e (extended), Enter,Enter, 
l (logical), +250M ,
l ,Enter, Enter (add the other / logical partition till the end), t 
(change type) partition No.5 , 82 (swap), Enter, edit, / (mount point.

install ncurses4-5.0-2.i386.rpm
