install squid-2.4.STABLE3-1.7.1.i386.rpm
backup and configure /etc/squid/squid.conf:
debug_options ALL,1
(acl all src 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0)
http_access allow all
(icp_access allow all)
(dns_testnames lycos.com
(u can leave whats in the default))
cache_effective_user squid squid
/etc/init.d/squid start (service squid restart)
at windows put proxy server port 3128 at
explorer -lan settings
cache will be made at /var/spool/squid
http errors will be at
/usr/lib/squid/errors/ENGLISH
info:
-at squid/errors add the kind of sentences u like:
err_connect_fail,dns_fail
-if u delete/reneme the content of
/var/spool/squid all the cockies will b erased
-u can change the squid dir with tha path at:
cache_dir ufs /home/squid ...
-to restrict users from surfing to some sites
(by the domain name) change the 1st:http_access allow all to:
acl deny-Sites url_regex -i
"/etc/squid/Acl-Files/Deny-Sites"
http_access deny Deny-Sites
than make a dir:Acl-Files inside a file name:
Deny-Sites with the names u want to restrict like:
xxx,free,sex,posha ...(names 1 under the other)
errors:
-squid dont start if the /var dir is full,
better make it big
-could not send signal 0 to proccess 1766:
(try to reboot)reinstall the rpm
